Paton-Churdan gets two wins at home vs Woodbine

The Paton-Churdan hoops teams won both games by wide margins when they hosted the Woodbine Tigers for Friday night basketball. The girls won 71-49 and the boys won 64-35.

The girls took the early lead and built it throughout the game. The Rockets led 14-10 after one quarter, 41-21 at the half, and 58-36 after three quarters. Both teams scored 13 points in the fourth quarter for the final score of 71-49. The Rockets’ scoring average going into the game was 49.3.

Senior Carleigh Paup was again the lead scorer with 24 points. Sydney Koch had 13 points, Kasey Lane had 12, Jenna Beyers had 10, Grace Geisler had nine and Reilly Niles had three points.

According to stats provided by coach Chris Petersen, Beyers led in rebounds with 11. Lane and Koch each had seven. Koch, Carey and Paup had three steals and Paup led in assists with six.

Petersen said the game was “very sloppy at time,” but that the “girls did a nice job of taking care of business and putting them away early in the game.” “It was a good bounce back win after a tough loss at Glidden-Ralston. We will need to continue to improve on our rebounding and ability to finish from the block as we move forward throughout the year,” he said.

The girls are now 4-3 overall and in the Rolling Valley Activities Conference.

Statistics from the boys game are not yet available.
